About your health record
What is your health record?
Your health record consists of data and details of your previous doctor and hospital visits. It also contains your previously prescribed medicine, blood tests and your health measures. This information is available to your doctor on a tool called HealthID. It is a digital tool for doctors to gain fast and up-to-date access to their patients' health information.
Why is your health record important?
Our world has changed greatly as a result of digital technology – smart phones, tablets and web-enabled devices have transformed our daily lives and the way we communicate. The ability to transfer information within a digital healthcare environment can change the way that care is delivered. Having a health record means your health information is available whenever and wherever it is needed.
How can your doctor access your health record?
Once you have given permission, your doctor can use HealthID to access your medical history, understand the benefits of your medical aid plan, make referrals to other healthcare professionals, study your previous blood test results and write electronic prescriptions, all with a touch of a finger. It’s what your healthcare will look like in the future, today. You can give your doctor consent in real time by signing on-screen during your appointment or you can give consent beforehand or at any time on our website. It gives you peace of mind that your personal information is protected and will only be viewed by the doctors you choose. "Click to view Health Record"
